Sonic Sum is an American hip hop group from New York.^[1] It consists of Rob Sonic, Fred Ones, Eric M.O., and Preservation.^[2] The group was described by CMJ New Music Monthly as "hip-hop's Radiohead".^[3]

In 2000, Sonic Sum released the first album, The Sanity Annex, on Ozone Music.^[4] It has received critical acclaim worldwide.^[5] XLR8R called it "one of the most criminally slept-on albums of the indie hip-hop boom".^[6] In 2004, the group released the second album, Films, exclusively in Japan.^[7] It was re-released on Definitive Jux in 2008^[8] and on remastered 2LP vinyl in 2015, on french imprint a night on canopy.
