History

Soonr was founded in 2005 by Martin Frid-Nielsen, CEO, Steven Boye, CTO, Lars Gunnersen, VP of engineering and Song Huang, VP of marketing. The four had worked together at Borland in the late 1980s developing innovative products like Sidekick and Quattro PRO. In the 1990s, Martin and Steven were early employees at Netobjects where they developed the Fusion web authoring product, and later Collage for enterprise content management together with several other developers who later became key Soonr employees. In 2001, the team joined enterprise software provider Merant, who acquired the Collage division from NetObjects.[1] At Merant, the team evolved Collage until 2004 when the company was acquired by enterprise change management provider Serena Software for approximately $380M.[2][3]

On July 29,2015 Soonr was acquired by Autotask.[4]

Funding

After angel funding in 2005, the company closed its initial round of financing in April 2006, led by Intel Capital, and Clearstone Venture Partners. Later investors included Cisco Systems,[5] HighBar Ventures and Presidio Ventures.

Partnerships

Soonr is partnered with Cisco Systems, InfoStreet, Hewlett-Packard, Support.com, Cloudmore and European telecom TeliaSonera,[6] which rebrands the service as Telia Skyfiles.

Products

Soonr Workplace enables businesses and teams to store, share, access, search, edit and sync files across platforms with support for more than 800 mobile devices including Android, Blackberry, iPhone and iPad.[7][8]
