The Southern Azerbaijan National Awakening Movement (SANAM) (Azerbaijani: Güney Azerbaycan Milli Oyanış Herekatı) (GAMOH) is a Baku-based[1] group that advocates self-determination for Azerbaijanis of Iran,[2] and "unification of Azerbaijanis living on both sides of the Aras River".[3]
Foundation and mission
It was separated from (SANLM) and founded in 2002[4] by Mahmudali Chehregani, and claims to represent the interests of Iran's Azerbaijani minority.[5]
At the UNPO, Southern Azerbaijan is represented by Southern Azerbaijan National Awakening Movement.[6]
