The Spinsterhood is a fictional order of extraterrestrial female warriors appearing in comic books published by American publisher, Marvel Comics. The group was first introduced in Silver Surfer Vol. 3, #80 (May 1993).

Fictional history

The order of the Spinsterhood was formed in the far distant past with the sole purpose of opposing the cosmic being Tyrant.[1] Having accomplished the defeat of Tyrant and finding no other purpose for themselves, the members dispersed themselves throughout the universe in suspended animation to be awakened should the threat of Tyrant reappear. With the exception of Ganymede and the clone Persephone, all the members of the Spinsterhood perished over the course of several billion years.[2] When Tyrant eventually rose again to menace the universe, only Ganymede and Persephone represented the Spinsterhood in the group of heroes allied to stop him.
