St.Joseph’s High School, Bhubaneswar is a Christian minority educational institution founded by Sisters of St. Joseph of Annecy in 1951, in the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Bhubaneswar.[1] Instruction is in English, with Odia and Hindi used also. Boys and girls from nursery onwards are prepared for the class X-ICSE and ISC(+2).[2]

Program

St. Joseph’s High School was Bhubaneswar's first ICSE School, and remains "one of the most popular and reputed schools of the city with its students listed under the top 10 performers of the state almost every year." [3] The school with its Christian foundations strives to develop a sense of responsibility and concern for others.[1]

Co-curricular activities include Scouts, Guides, Cubs, and Bul-Buls, field trips, social service, sports and games, and literary activities. Special cultural activities are compulsory for Class III to VIII.[4] The school also offers State ICSE scholarships and creative writing competitions.[3]

The School's annual Fete, usually held in the month of January/February is one of the most popular events amongst the schools in Bhubaneswar. On this day, the school students set up food and game stalls and everyone in the city is welcome to come and enjoy the fair like atmosphere set up in the school.

Course offerings

* Compulsory: English, second language (Indian or modern foreign), and history, civics, and geography.
* Any two of the following: mathematics, science (Physics, Chemistry, and Biology), economics, commercial studies, technical drawing, modern foreign language, classical language, computer science, environmental science, agricultural science.
* Any one of the following: computer application, economics application, commercial application, art, performing arts, home science, cookery, fashion designing, physical education, yoga.

Standard XI and XII students are fully incorporated into the school.[5] Coaching classes are provided after school hours for students who aspire for IIT / Medical.[6]
