[1]St. John's Syro-Malabar Catholic Forane Church is located at Parappukkara, Thrissur district in Kerala,India. The church belongs to Syro-Malabar Catholic Eparchy of Irinjalakuda. The pilgrimage center of St. John Nepumcian's Forane Church occupies most prominence in Parappukkara in 3 Villages. This is one of the most ancient churches. It is believed to be established in A.D. 400. Very ancient paintings of eighteen hundreds are kept in intact. The cross erected in about AD 1600 is of historical importance. According to rough figures there are around 750 Christian families in the parish. There are religious, educational, medical, social-service, and secular organizations and institution under this church. The church is constructed on a highest location in the area and the church is surrounded by a huge protective compound wall called Aana-Mathil or Elephant(ine) wall.
