St Jude Melkite Catholic Church is a Melkite Greek Catholic Church (which is a Melkite Greek Catholic Church of Byzantine rite) in Brickell in Miami, Florida. It is located at 126 SE Fifteenth Road, Miami, FL 33129. It is part of the Melkite Greek Catholic church under the Eparchy of Newton.[1][2][3][4]
Description
St Jude Melkite Church is located at 126 SE 15 th Road, Miami, Florida. The Diocese of Newton purchased the building that used to be known as the Chapel of Academy of the Assumption in 1978 from The Diocese of Miami under negotiations approved by the Vatican and directed by his Excellency, Bishop Joseph Tawil Melkite Bishop of North America and The Sisters of the Assumption in France. Built in 1946, the building is in Romanesque Gothic style designed by the architectural firm of Henry Dagit & Sons of Philadelphia and constructed by the firm of McCloskey & Co., also of Philadelphia. It is built of reinforced concrete and faced with Indiana Bedford limestone with an exposed concrete ceiling and stenciled color decorations on the exposed beams and arches. The floors are of terrazzo and the main altar and two side altars have marble facing. The cornerstone was laid on May 3, 1946 and the church was completed by September 1946.
