St. Michael Report
The Report of the Primate's Theological Commission of the Anglican Church of Canada on the Blessing of Same-Sex Unions (commonly known as the St. Michael Report, after the Oakville, Ontario convent of the Community of the Sisters of the Church where it was prepared) was the opinion of that Commission on the question of same-sex blessings.
The General Synod of 2004 requested that Archbishop Andrew Hutchison ask the Commission to consider whether the issue was a question of doctrine.
The Commission found that the blessing of Same-sex unions was a matter of doctrine. It also noted that although the issue touched upon several core doctrines, it was not itself a matter of core doctrine. It has been debated whether the issue would require a change in the church's canons (which must be approved by a two-thirds majority at two General Synods) .
