St Ives North Public School
St Ives North Public School (K-6) was established back in 1961 in St Ives, New South Wales. The Kur-ing-gai gifted & talented (G&T) class started at 1991. In 2011, the school celebrated a 50-20 anniversary: 50 years of establishment, and 20 years of G&T class.[1]
The school encourages community relationship. There are also an abundance of extra-curriculum activities including PSSA (Primary Schools Sport Association) sport, junior and senior choir, chess, debating, dance, environmental eco-operators and drama. Italian and Mandarin are also taught, and Hebrew is taught outside of school hours. The school stands at number 16 in overall achievement.[2]
There are 826 students at the school in 2016. The number made a giant leap because the G&T became more popular, because many more children enrolled at the school after that. There are more than 20 languages spoken at the school. As this school is located next to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park, encounters with animals are frequent.[3]
