Stalking is a fictional story about a young girl growing up in modern suburbia written by Joyce Carol Oates.[1][2] The story is meant as a criticism of modern American society and the detrimental effects that it can have on youth. The main character in this story is stalking the “Invisible Adversary”, who is the personification of the neglect that she has experienced.
