Stanka Gjurić (pronounced [Stanka Gjurit͡ɕ] is a Croatian poet, essayist and from 2006 a filmmaker. She is a member of the Croatian Writers' Association and Croatian Academy of Science and Art in Diaspora (Basel, Switzerland).[1] She has also modeled and acted in six feature films.[2]

Biography

Stanka Gjurić was born in Čakovec in northern Croatia, at the time part of Yugoslavia. Today she lives in Zagreb. She has published thirteen books, and since 2006 has also worked as a film maker, gaining worldwide acclaim with her short film Ubojite misli (Battle Thoughts).[3] Stanka is an independent producer and the creator of her own films.[4] Her short films have been screened in film festivals in France, Italy, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Slovenia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Canada, India, Egypt, and Switzerland,[5] and she has won five awards for her films.[6]

Dnevnik vodonoše - The Diary of an Aquarian[8] is an English-Croatian bilingual book written by Croatian poet and essayist Stanka Gjurić. It includes a variety of topics, but mostly dreams. It includes detailed descriptions of prophetic dreams and ironic and sometimes melancholy notes about meetings with different people. The book covers Ivica Račan, Antun Vrdoljak, Goran Višnjić.
