State Assembly of the Mari El Republic

The State Assembly of Mari El (Meadow Mari: Кугыжаныш Погын, Kugyžanyš Pogyn, Russian: Государственное Собрание Республики Марий Эл ) is the legislature of that republic. It succeeded the Supreme Council and comprises 67 deputies elected for a period of four years. Fifty of them are elected from single-member constituencies from an equal number of voters, while seventeen are elected on basis of one deputy from each district and republican city.[1]

The State Assembly approves ministers, who are nominated by the republic's President.[2]

The presiding officer is the Chairman of the State Assembly.
