Stephanie Ann Davis (born 8 March 1993) is an English actress. She has appeared in various British television shows. The actress came to public attention when she competed in the 2010 BBC talent-search Over the Rainbow. She was then cast in the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks as Sinead O'Connor. She played the role for five years until her contract was terminated by producers. She then appeared in the reality television series, Celebrity Big Brother.
Career
Davis began her career as a child actress. She secured the role of Gretel in the Liverpool Empire Theatre's production of "The Sound of Music", when she eight years old. Two years later she played the title role in the theatre's production of "Annie" and later as Little Nell in "Her Benny".[1]
Davis appeared in a number of minor television roles, including appearances in Holby City, Doctors and Parents of the Band.[2] In 2010, Davis took part in Over the Rainbow, a BBC talent-search looking for an actress/singer to play Dorothy Gale in Andrew Lloyd Webber's production of The Wizard of Oz. She advanced to the fifth week, whereupon she was voted off following a sing-off against Stephanie Fearon.
Following her appearance in Over the Rainbow, Davis went on to be cast as Sinead O'Connor in Hollyoaks. Originally slated to appear in late August, Davis made her Hollyoaks debut on 1 September 2010.[3][4] On 16 July 2015 it was announced Davis' contract had been terminated.[5] Her agent confirmed that she was fired from the job because she arrived on-set "unfit for work".[6]
In November 2015, Davis signed up to appear on the reality show I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!. She had to pull out of the show one day prior to it commencing because of a potentially fatal nut allergy.[7] On 5 January 2016, Davis appeared on Celebrity Big Brother as a contestant. She entered the house on Day 1. On Day 13, Stephanie was given a warning for using threatening language the previous night.[8] On Day 24, she was given another warning for her behaviour during an argument the previous night.[9] She finished as runner-up on Day 32.[10]
Personal life
Davis grew up in Liverpool. She has two younger brothers.[11] She attended De La Salle School, St Helens.[1] Davis was in a relationship with model Sam Reece which ended because of her involvement in Celebrity Big Brother.[12] Davis began a relationship with fellow Celebrity Big Brother contestant Jeremy McConnell. Their relationship ended following a series of rows.[13] In May 2016, Davis announced that she was pregnant with her first child to McConnell.[14] That month Davis was attacked and knocked to the ground in a public car park by a stranger.[15]
