Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry

Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry Thathal was Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir between July 1996 - July 2001.[1]

He hails from a highly influential and distinguished political family of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry is the son of Prominent Kashmiri Leader Chaudhry Noor Hussain and belongs to a noble Thathal Jatt family. He was born in Mirpur and was educated in the United Kingdom gaining a Baret in Law from London. [2]

The family have a long history of playing an active role in trying to bring the Kashmir issue in to the limelight by continiously raising the issue on an international level in countries such as the United Kingdom, United States and beyond. Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry made history in 1996 by becoming the first Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir hailing from the Mirpur region. [3]

He joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on 6 February 2015[4] and lost the elections for the first time after 25 years on 21 July 2016.[5]
