Superbalist.com, is a South African e-commerce web site that is positioned as a high-trend shopping destination. History and company beginnings

CityMob was founded in November 2010 and changed its name to Superbalist.com in November 2013.[1] Superbalist.com was officially acquired by Takealot in August 2015. Takealot is the largest online retailer in South Africa.

Takealot.com acquisition

In August 2015, Takealot.com announced its 100% stake in Superbalist.com.[2] According to an official statement issued by Takealot, the buyout was aimed at broadening its appeal to young South Africans who shop online. Superbalist continues to operate as an independent division.

1 million members

In September 2014, Superbalist.com reached 1 million members.[3] 2015 eCommerce Awards: Customer Service category – ranked #2

Superbalist100 campaign

The site has created a list featuring the who’s who of young talent. The list includes a social and environmental activist, a milliner, and a theatre director, through to a casting director/ model on the list. The campaign will be run every year with the aim of finding new creatives to collaborate with. Suzelle DIY took the number 1 spot in the Superbalist100 campaign in 2015.[4]

The Way of Us blog

Every Tuesday, Superbalist.com’s updates its blog covering trends, people profiles, apartment décor features.

Launch of shopping app

In September 2015, Superbalist.com released an online shopping application for iOS and Android.[5]
