Surjit Singh Rakhra is an Indian politician and belongs to the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal. He is Minister for Water Supply & Sanitation, Higher Education & Languages in the present Punjab Government.[1][2]

Family

He is belong to Minhas famileyHis father's name is Late. Kartar Singh Dhaliwal and mother's name Late. Jaswant Kaur. His brothers Darshan Singh Dhaliwal and Charanjit Singh Dhaliwal are businessmen in United States.[3][4][5]

Political career

He was elected to the Punjab Legislative Assembly in 2002 on a Akali Dal ticket from Samana.[6][7] He was re-elected from Samana in 2012.[8] Presently he is cabinet minister and holding portfolio of Rural Development & Panchayat.[1]

He now holds the portfolios of Water Supply & Sanitation, and Higher Education & Languages in the Punjab Govt.

Controversies
