History

The company was founded in 1969 by Ludwig Szinicz and Heinz König in Wels, Austria, with a staff of 10 people. Its headquarters are still in Wels.

In 1987 the company opened its first subsidiary (TGW Transportgeräte GmbH) in Siegen (Germany). In 2001 TGW, Inc. was founded as subsidiary in the United States. Four years later TGW acquired the US material handling equipment supplier Ermanco, which is now known as TGW Systems, Inc.. The Austrian supplier of automated logistics systems Ecolog was acquired by TGW in 2007.[3] The company's subsidiary in France TGW France SAS was opened in 2010.[4] It entered the Chinese market in 2010[5] and founded a joint-venture with CSI of Brazil in 2011[6]
