TSheets is employee time tracking and scheduling software designed and engineered for companies across multiple industries with a need to track, manage, and report time. Using web-based, cloud technology that integrates with multiple platforms, smartphones, and software programs, TSheets provides an alternative to a paper timesheet or punch card. It exists to streamline HR and accounting roles for businesses of all sizes — from freelancers to corporations employing tens of thousands of employees.
TSheets serves more than 20,000 businesses across 100+ countries. They have processed more than 120,000,000 timesheets since 2006 and over $8 billion in payroll each year. TSheets currently has the most five-star rated reviews on apps.com and is available on Android, iOS, and Google Chrome, or a desktop or mobile web browser.
Headquartered in Eagle, Idaho, TSheets opened a second location in Sydney, Australia, in early 2015.
History
Based in Eagle, Idaho, TSheets was co-founded in 2006 by CEO Matt Rissell[2] and CTO Brandon Zehm. They wanted to find a way to prevent employee time theft and save small business owners time and money on payroll. The result was TSheets, a web-based time tracking software. Two years later, in 2008, TSheets was the first company to create and release a native employee time tracking app for the iPhone. By 2013, TSheets had built and released its first seamless integration with accounting and payroll software QuickBooks — a partnership that lead to similar integrations with several other top payroll software companies. In 2015, TSheets accepted $15 million in growth equity funding from Summit Partners, bought a building in Eagle, Idaho, and opened a second location in Sydney, Australia. TSheets currently employs more than 150 employees.
Funding
In 2015, after nine years of adhering to lean startup methodologies, TSheets accepted $15 million in funding from Summit Partners. The funding enabled the company to grow their team, expand their product offering, and work towards their company mission, “to become the #1 employee rated and requested time tracking and scheduling software on the planet.” Funding in hand, CEO Matt Rissell purchased the very first TSheets headquarters in Eagle, Idaho, grew from 30 to 100+ employees, and opened a second office in Sydney, Australia, that same year.
PRO Program
The TSheets PRO Program was launched in 2013. The program is geared towards accountants and bookkeepers interested in streamlining the way their clients do business. The TSheets PRO Program has since grown to encompass more than 8,000 accountants and bookkeepers (PROs) around the world. TSheets PROs get access to TSheets for free, 20% commission on all client referrals, and access to a vast network of progressive industry leaders.
In 2016, TSheets released the TSheets Accountant View — a TSheets account functionality available only to TSheets PROs. Accountant View allows accountants to view their clients’ TSheets accounts in one, simple dashboard. Accountants can switch back and forth between client accounts without having to log in and out of each account individually.
Product
TSheets began as a very basic web-based time tracking software and is now a mobile time tracking and scheduling software/app with GPS location tracking, seamless software integrations, and custom settings.
Employees clock in or out using the TSheets mobile apps (available on Android, iOS, or Google Chrome), desktop or mobile browser, dial-in (available in both English and Spanish), text, or tweet. Employees can track time against multiple job codes throughout the day, take a paid or unpaid break, and check their schedule — whenever and wherever they work.
Account admins can set custom company settings, receive alerts when an employee has clocked in late or is approaching overtime, and review/approve employee time cards from any location and any device. All time, location, and job data is stored securely in the cloud, allowing users to export that data to their preferred accounting or payroll program or reference it as needed. TSheets maintains an audit log of each and every action.
TSheets released scheduling functionality in 2016 in an effort to save business owners even more time by streamlining the way they manage and schedule employees. TSheets Scheduling works hand in hand with TSheets’ existing time tracking software and mobile apps, allowing employees to clock in and out directly from the schedule from their desktop or mobile device.
Software Integrations
In early 2012, TSheets formed a partnership and seamless integration between TSheets and Intuit QuickBooks. The integration allows admins to automatically export time data from TSheets to QuickBooks — cutting the amount of time it takes to run payroll in half. Later that year, TSheets became the #1 rated and requested app in the Intuit app system.
In the summer of 2016, TSheets partnered with New Zealand-based accounting and payroll software, Xero — effectively widening the company’s presence in the global market. Using TSheets + Xero, clients can export time data and create customized invoices.
TSheets also partners and integrates with a number of HR, accounting, and payroll softwares including (but not limited to): -ADP -Avalara -Expensify -Flint -Fundbox -Fundera -Gusto -Insperity -Namely -Sage -Shoeboxed -Square -Qvinci
TSheets features an open API — allowing developers to merge TSheets with their existing applications and softwares (if no integration exists).
