Takayu Onsen
Takayu Onsen (高湯温泉 Takayu Onsen), also translated as Takayu Hot Spring, is an onsen resort city in the Zainiwasaka district of the city of Fukushima, Fukushima, Japan. It is located in the mountains about 14 km west of Fukushima Station.
Water
The spring's water is in the acidic range and is known for the quantities of dissolved hydrogen sulfide that it naturally contains, leading the baths and area in general to have a distinctly sulfuric rotten egg smell. Its temperature varies between 42 °C and 51 °C.[1]
Access
By Car
From the east, Takayu can be reached from Fukushima, taking Fukushima Prefectural Route 70 west. Access from the west is via the Bandai-Azuma Skyline, which has a toll gate in Takayu.
By Bus
Fukushima Transportation buses to Takayu leave from the east exit of Fukushima Station and terminate at Highland-mae (ハイランド前).[2]
