TechCrunch Disrupt New York 2016

TechCrunch Disrupt New York 2016 was a technology conference hosted by online publisher TechCrunch from May 9 through 11th, 2016 at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal.[1] This was the first time the annual event, which has been running since 2010,[2] was held outside of Manhattan.[3] The conference included hackathons, meet-and-greets with investors, and special guest lectures from industry leaders[3] such as Jessica Alba of The Honest Company, B.J. Novak of The Office,[4] Tim Armstrong of AOL, and former Obama White House advisor David Plouffe, who is currently serving on the board of Uber.[5]

Startup Battlefield

During the TechCrunch Disrupt New York 2016 Startup Battlefield, startup founders demoed their new, unseen products for a panel of judges.[6] The winner, interactive Twitch alternative Beam, was awarded a $50,000 prize.[7]

Startup Alley

While the event's presentations and competitions took place onstage, attendees could also wander Startup Alley, an exhibition featuring new and innovative tech companies and products.[8]
