Thalay

Thalay Valley is in Ghanche, Gilgit Baltistan, Pakistan, on the bank of Shyok River, The Shyok River meets Indus river at Keris about 30 kilometers west of Thalay. Thalay is 16 big and small Muhalahs., Daltir, Chundu, Tassu, Harangus, Parangghus, Haltagari, Yarkhur, Daltir, Gagurik, Baltoro, Burdas etc. The Houshey Valley in the east, Karis Valley in the west, Shiger Valley in the north and Daghoni/Balghar are located in south site.

Thalay Valley exists 40 km. away on the northwest to the district headquarters Ghanche (Gilgit Baltistan), and 110 km from Skardu city and situated slightly above than (2647 m) from sea level and falls in the single cropping zone. The main source of income is agricultural. Population household 1246, total population 12460. Education ratio male 20% & female only 5%. Thalay Valley has full of natural resources like pasture, water, wildlife and mineral etc. Thalay valley is distributed in two parts, upper Thalay and lower Thalay. Thalay valley is very beautiful in Baltistan especially Thalay Broq most beautiful tourist resort in Baltistan. Every year many national and international tourists come to Thalay Broq, Thalay La 4572 m and Shingkang pass 5100 m, most interesting for tourists. The unknown fort Chogho Khar, Marsong Khar, Caanggi Khar are located here; unfortunately, it is not actual history.
