On April 20, 2016, it was reported that A24 would finance and distribute the Azazel Jacobs film The Lovers, with Debra Winger and Tracy Letts in negotiations to star.[1] Filming reportedly concluded on May 27, 2016, after more than a month of shooting in and around the Santa Clarita Valley.[2]
