The Mitten

The Mitten (75°59′S 160°30′E / 75.983°S 160.500°E / -75.983; 160.500Coordinates: 75°59′S 160°30′E / 75.983°S 160.500°E / -75.983; 160.500) is a bare flat-topped mountain, which resembles a mitten when viewed from above, standing 3 nautical miles (6 km) northwest of Mount Armytage in Victoria Land, Antarctica. It was named by the Southern Party of the New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition of 1962–63 because of its shape.[1]
