The Rio Times is an English-language local newspaper and news and features website based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Today
The online service launched in March 2009, and is described by its creators as "dedicated to the expatriate and traveler community, as well as those interested abroad."
It is the city's only local news source provided in English, and one of the only English-language news sources in Brazil.
Mission
The paper's mission is "to provide [the Rio] community with local information, and improve their understanding of the Marvelous City, and Brazil."
Printed version
In 2010, The Rio Times produced its first printed version, which was increased from 5,000 to 10,000 in December 2011. It is distributed to a range of hotels and places popular with the Anglophone expat community.
