"The Rip" is a single by Portishead released in June 2008. It is the second release from the band's album Third. It was previously called "Mystic".
The animated music video for the song made by Nick Uff was first broadcast on 12 May 2008, on the band's website.
The song has been covered live by Radiohead during soundchecks on their 2008 tour, and Colin Greenwood has recorded a video of Jonny Greenwood and Thom Yorke covering the song acoustically, which was posted on Radiohead's official website.[1] This cover version was well received by members of Portishead; Adrian Utley remarked that it was "such a buzz".[2]
Garrett Kamps of The Village Voice called the song "so good it may have been worth waiting 10 years for".[3]
