The Spaulding Family

The Spaulding Family is a fictional family on the CBS daytime soap opera Guiding Light, and currently reside in the fictional town of Springfield. The Spaulding family became one of the core family on the show follow their arrival in 1977.

Family history

The Spaulding family arrive in Springfield on November 7, 1977. Businessman Alan Spaulding arrived in town with his wife Elizabeth Granville Spaulding their then seven-year-old son Phillip Spaulding. Alan was the owner of Spaulding Enterprises, after he wrested the company away from his own father, Brandon. Over the years Spaulding Enterprises has gone through many CEO's with different family members trying to take it over. For the better part of three decades, dominance of the family, company and family estate mainly shifted back and forth between Alan and his sister Alexandra (his only full sibling), or was shared between the two. Other family members would arrive in town over the years including Alan's father Brandon Spaulding and his sisters Alexandra Spaulding and Amanda Spaulding.

Spaulding Enterprise

The Spaulding family company which serves as a plot line throughout the 80's, 90's, and 00's in which sometimes the family would clash using underhanded tactics to seize control of. The company was founded by Brandon Spaulding (who's portrait can be seen hanging in the board room). It has numerous divisions including acquired business Lewis Oil Company and the San Cristoballian Harbor Project. In 2009, Spaulding Enterprises merged with Lewis Construction Company and became known as Spaulding-Lewis Enterprises (SLE). The Spaulding Mansion Estates is also control by the CEO of Spaulding Enterprises.
