Voice Foundation

VOICE Foundation[1] is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that promotes and manages the McGraw-Hill credit union's charitable activities and participates in financial literacy education and other programs that reflect the interests of the credit union's membership and the local New York City community. It is the fundraising arm of McGraw-Hill Federal Credit Union.[2] The VOICE Foundation is not related to, and should not be confused with, The Voice Foundation[3] (also a recognized 501(c)(3) organization), which serves to advance understanding of the human voice through interdisciplinary scientific research and education.

Mission

The VOICE acronym stands for: Volunteerism, Outreach, Involvement, Community, and Education. The VOICE Foundation is committed to providing financial literacy programs, scholarship awards and outreach activities to improve its community. The Foundation’s core values include volunteerism, community outreach, working collectively with community members to achieve common goals, and financial education.

Activities

Through donations, the Foundation is dedicated to: promoting financial education seminars that benefit credit union members, volunteers, students and communities. It supports financial education initiatives that provide members and the community with online tools and resources. Members volunteer time to aid the missions of various local community organizations. It also awards educational scholarships through the Tyler G. Hicks Scholarship Program for its members.

Beneficiaries

The Children's Miracle Network

The Children's Miracle Network hospitals treat 17 million children for every disease and injury imaginable. These hospitals impact the lives of more children than any other children's organization in the world. They are truly committed to providing the best care for children when they need it.

The First Tee

The mission of The First Tee is to impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf.

The National Junior Tennis & Learning of Trenton

NJTLT develops and implements innovative and collaborative programs to help provide under-served youth with the support they need to grow up healthy and succeed in school and in life. The programs work to keep kids off the streets and on the courts, instead of in the courts. Their initiatives strengthen families, promote healthy lifestyles and literacy, and foster community involvement.

Tyler G. Hicks Scholarship Program

A $1,000, one-time award given annually to students who excel in academics, extracurricular activities and community involvement.[4]

Tyler G. Hicks has been an integral part of the credit union's success over the past 45 years serving as president and currently as a member of the Board of Directors. He has exemplified how a good education along with passion and a willingness to learn can benefit a student's life.
