Critical Reception

The film received mixed-to-negative reviews from critics, praising Sai Dharam Tej's performance while heavily criticizing its story, many considering it to be very confusing and weak. 123Telugu gave it a 2.25/5 saying "Overall, Thikka is one film which Sai Dharam Tej should immediately erase from his memory. He should stay away from scripts like these which can spoil his career big time. Except for his sincere performance, this film has absolutely nothing to offer in any which way possible. Stay away from this one otherwise, you can end up losing your mind."[7] mirchi9 gave it a 1.5/5 and wrote "One can say the same thing about Thikka as well. There is a huge Hollywood hangover visible throughout the film. The style and the humor are acquired taste and it is not for everybody. Finally, the film is a hit and miss kind of film. There are parts that are truly hilarious and there are parts that are atrocious and make one squirm uncomfortably in their places."[8] telugu360 also gave it a 1.5/5 and noted "Thikka movie’s first half is bad and second half is worse. This movie is one such movie where everything has gone awry. Sai Dharam Tej should be very cautious about his story selection at this point of his career. At Box-office, this movie may have some revenue till first weekend in India. At overseas Box-office, Thikka will end up as one of the lowest grossers in recent years."[9]
