In the Dungeons & Dragons fantasy role-playing game, the thunderherder is a type of monster.
Publication history
The thunderherders first appeared in the first edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons adventure modules Pharaoh (1982),[1] and Lost Tomb of Martek (1983),[2] and was repinted in the original Monster Manual II (1983).[3]
The thunderherder appeared in second edition Advanced Dungeons & Dragons in the Monstrous Manual (1993) under the "worm" entry.[4]
Description
A thunderherder is a cousin to the purple worm which travels in vast herds just a few feet under the ground in desert regions. The thunderherder is not aggressive, but causes incidental earth tremors and a terrible trumpeting as it stampedes underground, causing a great deal of confusion, knocking over tents, and panicking pack animals.
