Timothy R. Seder (born September 17, 1974) is a former American football placekicker in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys, Minnesota Vikings, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Kansas City Chiefs. He played college football for Ashland University.
Early years
Seder attended Ashland High School (Ohio). He walked-on at Ashland University, leading the team in scoring in each of his final three seasons and finishing with a school-record 41 field goals.
He also registered 204 career points (fourth in school history). As a senior he recorded 64 points on 14-of-19 field goals and 22-of-24 extra points attempts. His 14 field goals ranked second in school history and earned him All-MIFC honors.
In 2013, he was inducted into the Ashland University Hall of Fame.
Professional career
Dallas Cowboys
Although he was out of football for more than two years,[1] Seder was contacted in 2000 by the Cowboys after they had reviewed his highlight tape and were interested in him.[2] After training camp, he won the placekicker job over rookie Rian Lindell, who was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Dallas Cowboys following the 2000 NFL Draft.
He led the Cowboys in scoring with 108 points, converting 25/33 field goals and all 27 point-after opportunities. He also had one rush for touchdown, which is believed to be the first by a kicker in Cowboys history.[3] On November, 14, 2001, he was placed on the injured reserve list with an ankle injury, finishing the year with an average of 11 out of 17 field goals and an eight-yard touchdown run in week 4 against the Oakland Raiders. On September 1, 2002, he was waived when the team decided to keep Billy Cundiff.
Minnesota Vikings
Seder was claimed by the Minnesota Vikings off waivers.[4] He was released on September 3, 2002, after spending just one day with the team.[5]
Jacksonville Jaguars
On October 23, 2002, he signed as a free agent with the Jacksonville Jaguars.[6] He was cut on November 26, finishing with an average of 8 out of 12 Field Goals.[7]
Columbus Destroyers (AFL)
On January 11, 2005, he was signed by the Columbus Destroyers of the Arena Football League,[8] but was waived four days later on January 15.[9]
Philadelphia Soul (AFL)
On March 18, 2005, he signed with the Philadelphia Soul of the Arena Football League.[10] On September 28, he was traded to the Utah Blaze in exchange for Donny Klein.[11]
Utah Blaze (AFL)
On November 10, 2005, he was traded along with Fred Ray to the Kansas City Brigade in exchange for Hans Olsen.
Kansas City Brigade (AFL)
On January 8, 2006, he was activated by the Kansas City Brigade and eventually released on March 16.[12]
Personal life
Seder teaches health and coaches football at John Horn High School in Mesquite, Texas.
