Thomas "Tom" Cusack (born 1 March 1993) is a professional rugby union player. He represents Australia in rugby sevens. Born in Canberra, ACT and playing for the Canberra Royals at club level, he debuted for Australia in February 2013. As of December 2015, he had 13 caps.
Cusack is a member of Australian Rugby Union’s National Academy and is currently playing with Canberra Royals. He has previously represented Australia at the Schoolboys and under-20 levels. A former member of the ARU National Gold Squad, the ARU’s national Rugby development program for high school students, Tom showed a talent for Rugby at an early age. He was brought into the Australian Sevens squad for the Wellington 7s in 2013, and quickly established himself as an asset with ball in hand. A graduate of Marist College Canberra, Tom is currently completing a Bachelor of Sports Coaching and Exercise Science at University of Canberra. Most recently, Tom represented the Canberra Vikings in the newly formed National Rugby Championship. He also represented Australia in the 2013 Rugby World Cup, scoring 2 tries, and was a squad member in the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Scotland.[1][3]
Cusack was born to an Australian father and Italian mother, and holds a dual Australian-Italian citizenship. In February 2016 he had a wrist ligament reconstruction surgery, but recovered in time to compete for Australia at the 2016 Summer Olympics.[4][2]
