Tony Lepore

Tony Lepore (born October 17, 1947), aka the Dancing Cop, is a retired American police officer who entertained on the streets of Providence, Rhode Island during the December holiday season while directing traffic using a dancing style.

Lepore began dancing in the street in 1984 as a way to relieve boredom. After he retired, city leaders asked that he return during the holiday season in 1992 as a means of attracting people to the downtown area of Providence. He agreed to a contract to return as a reserve police officer.[1]

In 2015, Providence officials let him go from his decades-long gig directing holiday traffic.[2]

Lepore also does stage performances.
