Tranquilizer

A tranquilizer[1] is a drug that induces tranquility in a person and other animals.[2]
The term is generally used as a synonym for sedative. When used by health care professionals, it is usually qualified or replaced with more precise terms:
- minor tranquilizer usually refers to anxiolytics.[3]
- major tranquilizer usually refers to antipsychotics.
Mood stabilizers can also be considered tranquilizing agents.[4]
