Tri-City College Prep High School is a public charter high school in Prescott, Arizona.
History
The school was founded in 1999 by Mary Ellen Halverson. Shortly before the death of Paul W. Bear, Halverson's grandfather, Bear gave her $2,000 and asked her to make it grow. Halverson decided to found a school. She wanted a school focusing on math and the sciences while preparing students for college. The school started on the campus of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University campus, where three buildings were rented out to Tri-City Prep. In 2000, the first graduating class was commenced. In 2005, the school moved to its permanent home on 5522 Side Road, where a school complex was built. In 2008, a gymnasium was built for the school's various sports programs. [2]
