Tsewang Samanla was one among three Indians who died on Mount Everest in the 1996 Mount Everest disaster. He was a member of the first Indian team to reach the summit from the North Col. It is believed that Samanla descended later than his companions.[1] While descending from the summit, all three were trapped in a blizzard, and died due to exposure.[2] His body remains on the mountain.[3]
