UFC Ultimate Fight Night (also known as UFC Fight Night 1) was a mixed martial arts event held by the Ultimate Fighting Championship on August 6, 2005. The event took place at University of Nevada's Cox Pavilion, Las Vegas, Nevada and was broadcast live on Spike TV in the United States and Canada.
Background
It was the second-ever UFC event on free television, with the telecast drawing over two million viewers for a 1.5 overall rating in the United States.
With his victory at the event, Nate Quarry became the first The Ultimate Fighter participant to earn a title shot in the organization. He fought for the UFC Middleweight Championship against Rich Franklin at UFC 56.
Nate Marquardt tested positive for nandrolone at the post-fight drug test following his win over Ivan Salaverry.
