The United States Air Force Pipe Band was originally organized as part of the United States Air Force Drum and Bugle Corps in 1950. In 1960 an independent Air Force pipe band was formed. The pipe band disbanded in 1970. Occasional pipe performances have since occurred as part of the United States Air Force Band.[1]
