The University of Florida International Center (UFIC) is the University of Florida's research and educational center for international affairs and cultural studies.[1]
The UFIC was created in 1991, with the mission of enhancing the educational experience and environment of UF's students, faculty and staff by promoting a global perspective. The center is currently headed by the Dean David J. Sammons.
Duties
- To assist faculty members who are doing research abroad.
- To give out awards to faculty members who internationalize their courses.
- To find outlets for students to pursue study abroad opportunities.
- Bringing in important international leaders to discuss their point of view.
- Provide services to University of Florida students who are studying over-seas.
Alec Courtelis Award
- Every year the Alec Courtelis Award is given out at the International Student Academics Awards Ceremony. Students are chosen based on academic excellence and outstanding contributions to the university. A plaque inscribed with the names of the award recipients is located in the University of Florida International Center at The Hub.[2]
