For mythological river, see Vaitarani.

Vaitarani (ବୈତରଣୀ) is a river of Orissa, India. It forms part of the boundary between Balasore district and Cuttack district.[1] There is a saying that "he who bathes in it and gives alms will always be free from torments inflicted by Yama."[2]
