Valerie Trueblood

Valerie Trueblood is an American writer. Among her notable works is her debut novel Seven Loves and the short story collection Search Party: Stories of Rescue. The latter was nominated for the 2014 PEN/Faulkner Award.[1][2]

Valerie Trueblood was born in Fort Ward Heights, Virginia on April 27, 1944 to Lester and Margarete (Chapman) Trueblood. She began to tell herself stories when she was five, and to write stories when she was still in school. After she graduated from Pembroke University, where she was a student of both John Berryman and John Hawkes, she moved to Chicago, and continued to write stories, criticism, and commentary. Little, Brown published her novel "Seven Loves" in 2006, and her collection of stories "Marry or Burn" was a finalist for the Frank O'Connor Prize in 2011. Her latest collection, "Criminals: Love Stories" was published by Counterpoint Press in 2016.
