Venus and Adonis (Titian, London)

Venus and Adonis is a c. 1555 painting by Titian. It was one of thirty-eight paintings from John Julius Angerstein's collection acquired by the British government in 1824 for £57,000 which formed the original nucleus of the National Gallery, where it now hangs.
