Vern Campigotto (born February 26, 1948) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player.
Campigotto attended Lakehead University where he played CIAU hockey with the Lakehead Thunderwolves.
Campigotto went on to play seven seasons of professional hockey, playing 433 games with the Johnstown Jets of the EHL/NAHL, and another 48 games with the Johnstown Wings of the Northeastern Hockey League, before retiring following the 1978–79 season.
Campigotto also appeared in the 1977 movie Slap Shot. During the opening sequence Campigotto, wearing jersey #14, collides with a teammate wearing the #2 allowing the Chiefs to score. The player Campigotto runs into was his real life Johnstown Jets teammate, Bill Reed.[1]
