Vladimir Vasilyev (politician)

Vladimir Abdualievich Vasilyev (Russian: Влади́мир Абдуали́евич Васи́льев; born August 11, 1949, Klin, Klinsky District, Moscow Oblast, RSFSR, USSR[1]) is a Russian statesman and politician. He was a deputy of the State Duma of the VI and VII convocation, and a deputy speaker of the State Duma of the VI convocation,[2] the head of the United Russia faction. Earlier, he was the deputy of the State Duma of the fifth and fourth convocations, chairman of the Duma committee on security (2004-2011), and Deputy Secretary of the Security Council (1999-2001).[3] Colonel-General of police,[4] the candidate of legal sciences.[5]

He was awarded the Order For Merit to the Fatherland 3rd[6] and 4th classes, Order of Courage, Order of Honour.[7]
