WHRZ-LP (104.1 FM) also known as The Z, is a non-commercial low-power FM radio station located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The station is licensed by the FCC to broadcast with an ERP of 47 watts (.047 kW).

The transmitter is located on the former WSPA TV tower in downtown Spartanburg. The station has a range of approximately 10 miles. It is owned by the First Baptist Church of Spartanburg, which is located at 250 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306

W242BX was a translator but has been changed to the HD-2 channel of WFBC-FM.

History

The station was licensed on May 19, 2005 and began broadcasting Thanksgiving Day of 2005. The station offers an "alternative" to other area stations, playing a CHR-type format for Christian Hit Music, targeting students and young adults. The music is described as "The best Rock, Pop, and Hip Hop in Christian Music. The station's website clarifies: "This Radio Outreach is a partnership between HIS RadioZ and Hangar RadioZ, ministries committed to students 13 to 33, or anyone encouraged by Hit music that is relevant, real and radically focused on a life committed to Jesus Christ."[1] Artists commonly played are Skillet, Lecrae, Fireflight, and Toby Mac.
