WLAB is an FM radio station located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The station operates on the FM radio frequency of 88.3 MHz.

Coverage Area

Star 88.3 reaches Fort Wayne, Indiana and the surrounding counties with a Contemporary Christian format. They have translators outside of their main coverage area which include the communities of Kendallville, Indiana (89.7FM) and Warsaw, Indiana (90.9 FM). ^[1] The station also simulcasts its programming on 91.3 FM WCKZ in Orland, Indiana, which expands the station's coverage area to include the Angola, Indiana, Coldwater, Michigan, LaGrange, Indiana and Sturgis, Michigan areas.

Ownership

WLAB was owned by the Indiana District of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod for 23 years until 2009, when it was sold to Star Educational Media Network. The station is still located on the campus of Concordia Theological Seminary, an LCMS seminary.^[2]

Also in 2009, STAR 883 was awarded Station of the Year (Small Market) by the Gospel Music Association as well as the Rob Gregory Award for Community Service in Ft. Wayne.

App

The STAR 88.3 app debuted on the App Store March 8, 2011 and later on Google Play. On iTunes it is developed by Reusser Design, LLC, a STAR partner, and by ONSEƎKER on Android.^[3] It features live playing features, Staff profiles, photo galleries, YouTube videos, a quick-dial call feature, and an events calendar.

Conversations

with Melissa Montana, airs Monday through Friday as 12:20pm on Star 88.3. Topics of conversation are directed toward mothers and generally include tips on marriage and parenting. Local events are also discussed.

Keep The Faith

is a Sunday programming block featured on many radio stations, including 88.3. It is branded all-day Sunday, and features live talks at 7:00am and 7:00pm.Note: STAR 88.3 DJ Don Buettner is the Associate Producer of Keep the Faith.

Mornings with Scott & Hollie

The morning show features STAR DJs Scott and Hollie at various times in the morning, weekdays on STAR 88.3.

Chris Sligh

On March 20, 2008, Chris Sligh from American Idol performed his new song "Empty Me" live at Star 88.3's studio. He played an acoustic set and also shared stories on-air.
