WPUC-FM (88.9 FM) is a noncommercial educational[5] radio station broadcasting an Adult Contemporary format. Licensed to Ponce, Puerto Rico, it serves the southern Puerto Rico area. The station is owned by Pontifical Catholic Univ of Puerto Rico Service Assn, Incorporated.
The original (1982) licensee call letters of this radio station were WEUC, short for Emisora Universidad Catolica (English: Catholic University Broadcasting). On March 1, 2000, it changed its call letters to WPUC-FM, Pontifica Universidad Catolica (English: Pontifical Catholic University).[6]
The radio station serves dual purposes: as a communication media with the external community and as an internship for students studying communications.[7]
