Warnakulasurya Wadumestrige Devasritha Valence Mendis
Warnakulasurya Wadumestrige Devasritha Valence Mendis (born May 21, 1958 Koralawella, Sri Lanka) is the current Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Chilaw since 2006.
Mendis was officially ordained a Catholic priest on July 20, 1985. He was appointed a Coadjutor Bishop of Chilaw on January 17, 2005 by Pope John Paul II. He was consecrated a Bishop on April 2, 2005.
Bishop Mendis succeeded Bishop Frank Marcus Fernando as the Bishop of Chilaw on October 19, 2006. He is currently Secretary General of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Sri Lanka. He is a former student of Prince of Wales' College, Moratuwa, St. Sebastian's College, Moratuwa, the University of Peradeniya and the Pontifical Urban University, Rome.
