WarpWar was the fourth microgame published by games company Metagaming Concepts in 1977.[1]
It was designed by Metagaming president Howard M. Thompson.
The game focused on an interstellar campaign where different players controlled stellar nations which built and fought battles with large starships. Players designed the ships, intermixing standard components, and then would fight battles to control star systems and the region as a whole.
The mix of strategic, economic, simplified starship design, and tactical combat is a game design theme seen later in the widely known Starfire game series by Stephen V. Cole.
