Warri South is a Local Government Area of Delta State, Nigeria. Its headquarters are in the city of Warri. Warri, the headquarters of Warri South LGA, is an important sea port in the country and the commercial nerve centre of the state. The area is predominantly riverine with large expanses of mangrove forests and has a land area of approximately 1,520 square kilometres. The LGA consists of several communities namely, Ode-Itsekiri, Agbassa, Orugbo, Ogunu, Obodo, Igbudu, Omadino, Edjeba, Ijala, Ekurede, Ugbori, Okere, Ikpisan, Ifie-Kporo, Ubeji, Ajamimogha and Alders Town. It harbors many industrial establishments including all the major oil companies operating in Nigeria and is also the seat of the Olu of Warri, a major traditional ruler. [1]
It has an area of 633 km² and a population of 303,417 at the 2006 census.
