William Harmer
William James Harmer (born: October 15, 1872 died: September 9, 1947) was a politician from Alberta, Canada.
Harmer was appointed to the Canadian Senate on the advice of Robert Borden, his appointment was made to satisfy the Unionists coalition. The appointment especially angered Richard Bennett who was originally supposed to get the appointment, but also very much opposed the parliamentary coalition.
He served in the senate for many years, he was appointed on February 5, 1918 and served until his death on September 9, 1947.
